Job description

Pelican Procurement is hiring a new Senior Developer and Scrum Master - optionally working remotely - to help guide the team that's developing the software underpinning our online procurement SaaS solution.

This role is a mix of full stack coding, being technical lead on the development effort and running our Scrums. You'll be joining us during a sustained period of positive change and ongoing investment in technology, with lots of fresh code to write as we expand into Europe. 

Collaborating with our new Head of Development, our Technical Architect and our Product Owner, you will become a technical mentor to the development team and help foster a culture where ideas and suggestions are freely shared and explored pragmatically. Your approach will advance the development of Pelican's software products, as well as leading the team and championing good use of Agile and Scrum.

We’re looking to strengthen and expand our current use of Scrum/Agile and this role is key to driving the efficient use of scrum throughout the team. You’ll be mentoring the team in all things Agile and helping them learn and develop their Agile credentials.

You may work remotely as your primary arrangement; our development team is currently 100% remote, and you may optionally work in the office if you prefer.

The new applications have and will be designed and developed “from the ground up” enabling a long term, future proof and fit for purpose solution. The development team is based at recently refurbished offices within the grounds of Osberton Hall, Nottinghamshire. The estate boasts beautiful views across its almost 50 acres of grounds consisting of lawns, parklands and lakes.

The development team is supported by a Head of Development and a 15-strong team of developers of all levels.

About the Role  

We are looking for experienced Software Development Engineers in Test to design, implement and innovate in the automation space for ClearBank®’s IT platform. Our SDETs are empowered to build their own frameworks using latest technologies and advance our current automation scope. The aim is to provide reliable and robust automated solutions to run in CI/CD pipelines. Successful candidate in this role will work with QA and Engineering teams in an Agile (Scrum) environment to automate testing of new features and non-functional requirements (e.g. performance, resilience and security). 

Successful candidate will directly report into our Senior Technology Manager and ensure delivery of fully automated tests within 3-4 Agile teams.  

About You 

  • You are an evangelist in quality engineering who also advocates the best in testing and DevOps process 
  • Proactive, engaging with your peers (software engineers, BA/PO) at all stages of software development process 
  • Comfortable with coaching and mentoring QAs on a day to day basis 
  • Comfortable with challenging software engineers in the context of reviewing their contributions to test suite along with testing of non-functional requirements

What you'll be doing:

  • Overseeing the installation, integration and configuration of computer-based communication systems at both hardware and software levels on both server and client platforms.
