Your new role
In this role, you will be working with the BI team on a wide range of projects that range from development and maintenance of a data warehouse to data migration to implementation of BI solutions using a variety of tools, to 'pure SQL development'.

Ideally you will have solid experience using both Oracle and MS-SQL and building dashboards. We are currently progressing to a MS-SQL Azure environment.

You will have responsibility for specific projects and will liaise closely with your immediate team, as well as the DBA and Infrastructure teams and Heads of Department to be a "touch point/SME" in said projects.

Essential requirements: PL/SQL and Oracle. MS BI stack (SSIS, SSAS) T-SQL (Transact-SQL), Analysis Services tabular Model, In-depth understanding of ETL processes Previous exposure to Data Warehousing design/development Power BI

You should have a strong understanding of requirements and able to develop BI content. You will naturally enjoy and be able to design and integrate functional dashboard systems using Power BI.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Expert technical experience MS SQL (TSQL) and the MS BI stack (SSIS, SSAS), Analysis Services Tabular Model
  • Expert technical experience of PL/SQL and Oracle
  • Experience as a Database Architect focusing on large scale, complex, transformational solutions
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity, performance
  • issues, blocking and deadlocking, replication, connectivity, security issues etc.
  • Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Ability and Expertise to guide / author a technology strategy
  • Experience delivering BI Architecture, reporting, database etc.
  • Ability to perform database and SQL performance analysis and making tuning changes.
  • Maintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance

SQL Database Admin

KEY ACCOUNT ABILITIES:
  • As a 3rd Line SQL Server DBA, you will be responsible for providing technical support for all in scope Microsoft SQL Server database environments in line with the organisation's established policies and procedures, including new installations and upgrades.

Want a Summary of the Role?

This senior management role sits within the Software Engineering team in our Group Transformation division, within the Finance Value Stream and will focus on work in our General Ledger's LAB. You would support the delivery of the high quality customer driven software development using either C#.NET or Java. Team leading would involve coaching, continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting your team.

Our software development is focused around General Ledger systems like SAP or Oracle for example. Roughly this role would be 30% hands on coding and 70% management.

What would you get involved with?

As our mission is promote the adoption of modern software engineering practices, specifically accelerating adoption of modern engineering practices: DevOps, Continuous Improvement/Continuous Development, Cloud First, Agile, etc...

You would work in cross-disciplinary teams and act as advocate for Engineering, providing a voice to engineers within the teams, identifying and supporting your teams in resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing yourself with industry best practice and tooling used across their engineering team.

What do you need to be considered for this job?

Generally, you are comfortable in a hands-on technical leadership role, blending both solid leadership experience and technical expertise.

We welcome people from a range of role and industry backgrounds but do need to see the following as a minimum for consideration, 1) 5 years + Software Engineering background with experience in building large scale applications with at least one of the following languages: Java or C#.NET, 2) technical leadership experience and desire to help coach and mentor staff, 3) great interpersonal skills and a good communicator with technical and non-technical people, 4) Passionate about driving a true modern DevOps culture, 5) good understanding and/or experience of big data/data management.

Oh, and if you have any prior experience working within a finance function or with general ledger systems that would be handy, but please apply if you don't!

Our team sits within the Group Transformation division, in the Finance Value Stream, specifically within the General Ledger's LAB area of the bank. You will be responsible for supporting a vast and complex Finance Ledger landscape including the new Oracle Fusion (Cloud hosted ledger) as well as the existing/legacy ledgers and sub-ledgers. In addition to this, the team also supports the Integrity application for Finance attestation, the Generic Interface Processes as well as the Data Reference Management tool.
