The role of DevOps and Environment Support Engineer is really important to us. You will be supporting the existing non-production environments, assisting the Bank's new and existing cloud hosted environments, and designing and developing automated deployment and configuration solutions.

Based in our dynamic Reading office, you will sit amongst a wide team and report to the Non-Production Environments and DevOps Manager

What would your day look like?

This is not a pure DevOps role. It is expected that the duties related to supporting the existing manually delivered environments will continue for some time and will make up a significant part of the day to day activities; however it presents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to be part of a changing organisation.

What do we expect of you?

  • Proven experience with some of the following:

Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, Artifactory, SonarQube, Sentinel, GitHub, TFS, Maven, Ant, MSBuild, Docker

  • Extensive Technical background in Azure and AWS cloud hosting solutions,

VMWare ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V, networks, firewalls, load-balancers and web-application firewalls

  • Good experience of Java and .NET software development environments
  • A good working knowledge of Java EE application servers e.g. JBOSS, WebLogic etc.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server and Linux operating systems (installation, configuration, patching)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (or another enterprise DBMS e.g. Oracle)
  • A good understanding of the waterfall and agile software development methodologies

You will support an existing small programme team working on the implementation of HR system (eESS, based on Oracle eBusiness Suite).
  • This role sits within the data migration work stream and focuses on the continual development of bespoke data migration solutions based on environment shadow copies of source data systems
  • Complex data quality and validation processes; static and dynamic data mapping
  • Test and live data migration processes into third party operated Oracle eBusiness Suite staging tables and data load processes
  • Supporting end-user inputs to data mapping, validation and test processes; reporting; and working with live system team.

Your new role
As Risk Analyst you will work within the organisation and its partners, to foster good working relationships with key influencers within the programme, ensuring that the management of risk and value within the programme is best in class

In addition you will effectively lead and line manage project teams, including training, development and performance management as well as establishing and managing a clear communication plan for Client and suppliers as appropriate, ensuring these meet the organisations essential KPIs.

What you'll need to succeed

The focus of this role is to ensure that PRS for Music operates efficient and effective IT services by delivering an overall IT architectural strategy that is aligned with the CIO team, our Strategic Imperatives and Transformation Portfolio.

Other duties include but limited to:

  • Partnering with business stakeholders including the CIO Team, Transformation and various third parties to architect, prototype and drive the implementation of various projects and programmes.
  • Work closely with Application Development, Technical Services and Digital teams to establish best practices, standards for development, utilisation of technical platform architecture and methods to drive enterprise alignment and consistency
  • Promote best practices to support scalability, skills transfer and organisational change management related to object and service oriented software design and implementation
  • Drive technical and architectural innovation across the across the CIO team
  • Act as a technical advisor to the CIO Leadership Team to determine the most appropriate design of solutions, applications and infrastructure to support the business, taking into account the strategic imperatives of PRS and its music industry partners, prevailing best practice and technologies
  • Input and advise on the CIO Implementation Plan, IT Roadmaps and IT Strategy, ensuring it is aligned with the 5-year business plan and Transformation Portfolio
  • Establish an architecture roadmap to implement the architecture strategy, advising on the business cases for technology projects, such as platform upgrades or consolidation and data architecture rationalisation.
  • Responsible for tracking and developing the application portfolio, applying application life cycle strategies for acquisition, enhancement, replacement, consolidation and retirement of applications, as well as ensuring architectural reuse, consistency and integrity within the application portfolio
  • Lead the development and governance of corporate software development standards, methodologies and tools
  • Engage with key vendors (e.g. Oracle, Salesforce, Mulesfoft, Microsoft etc) to understand and incorporate their roadmaps into PRS’ overall IT architectural strategy.
  • Research and document solution options for specific projects considering both internal development options and externally sourced solutions
  • Act as design authority for technical designs produced by the CIO teams to ensure compliance with agreed architecture strategy
  • Provide leadership to IT Technical Leads and other Architects to ensure that the specific needs of each application portfolio are met

About You

You will have extensive demonstrable experience working within complex and high transactional data volume environments, with a working knowledge of the tools, platforms and services used within PRS such as Oracle (OCI a real bonus), Salesforce, Mulesoft, Azure and other Microsoft technologies.

With a background in digital services, Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing (an advantage) the ideal candidate will have previous experience of leading an Architecture team and in defining, implementing and governing architecture strategies.

You will also be:

  • Versed in a range of design and integration principles relating to enterprise architecture
  • Have significant experience in IT Systems Lifecycle, relating to software development, methodologies and tools and IT Service Management
  • Have a track record of producing high quality solutions documentation for internal and external use.

Our leading financial services client requires an Oracle Project Manager to join their growing team on an initial 6 month basis with a view of extending.

You will be joining a market leading organisation as a significant point in their growth as they invest heavily in improving their infrastructure offering.

  • Oracle data migrations
  • Oracle reports and forms upgrades, deprecated code remediation
  • Solaris / upgrades
  • Oracle Infrastructure as a Service (e.g. private cloud)
