We are seeking a motivated Database Administrator/Engineer to join the Databases Team (DB Team), part of the TSC

The DB Team is responsible for the database administration and management of the large central database environment that is deployed over a Virtual Infrastructure based on VMWare and the DBMSs currently supported range through MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Vertica, Mongo DB and MS SQL Server.

Our customers are the Services and Research internal teams of EMBL-EBI.

Your role:

The Database Engineer role in our team involves Database Administration and Engineering activities for the Production, Development and Test database environments across the supported database technologies. We are seeking for existing Oracle and PostgreSQL skills. 

The candidate will be responsible with colleagues in the DB team for the good functioning of the database pipelines and in addition to traditional DBA tasks, from a Database Engineering perspective the candidate will work with our customers in areas such as:

  • Advising on database technology choice for new or refactoring projects;
  • Advising on Database design;
  • Advising customers on projects involving migrating applications to a different DBMS;

You should be experienced with (and excited by!) ideas like infrastructure as code and "cattle not pets", and be prepared to design, develop and support the various offerings of our system. Because of the sensitive nature of our work flexibility is a must. We deploy to AWS today, but may want to extend to other cloud offerings in the future. The DevOps Engineer provides a key role in the development and delivery of high quality systems that operate in both high volume transaction environments and through our web front-ends.  The role is part of the development and operations team that designs, creates, maintains and manages the systems delivering our SaaS and online services to Konsentus clients.

Your role:

Our development and operations team is creating and managing the systems behind our state-of-the-art technology platform.   As a DevOps engineer you will be playing a full part in this team, helping to build out the Konsentus service platform by helping to build out a high quality, robust and reliable, systems environment.   You will be working in both high volume transaction environments (back-end APIs) and with our forward-facing client user interfaces (front-end web services).   You’ll also have the opportunity to vary your role putting on your Developer or Release Manager hat as and when required.  You will be:

Third Light is hiring a back-end developer, either a seasoned Go developer or a back-end developer looking to cross-train to Go.

You may work remotely as your full-time arrangement, joining a team that already includes remote workers.

This is about delivering sophisticated new product features for release to our state-of-the-art software service that helps companies manage and share their digital media files easily – features that will have immediate positive impact for our global user base.
