Job description

What will you be doing

We’re building Airsorted using Python 3, React, React Native, Flask, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL and Redis.

We care about agile principles and use good practices from Scrum and Kanban, but are not married to any single methodology. We pride ourselves in quality and collaboration. Every change we want to make to production code has to pass Continuous Integration and Peer Code Reviews before it can be merged in. This ensures that - for the majority of the time - we can run Continuous Deployment smoothly. It also allows us to deploy features and progress quickly, as well as identify potential bugs before they are deployed.

We work in squads are autonomous and make their own decisions on what to build (based on company goals), how to build it, and how to work together.

Airsorted

Technology is fundamental to our work in looking after the homes of thousands of hosts across multiple cities worldwide in addition to ensuring hotel-quality stays for their guest.  We are Airsorted - we make home-sharing hassle-free.

We are here to solve the problem that home sharing is not accessible for many homeowners, who don’t have the time or the expertise.

Catering for our hosts means that we hold responsibility for a multitude of customers on behalf of them - these also include their guests, cleaners and account managers.

We create each product with customer types in mind, and tailor these to solve their problems so that their time with us is as easy and intuitive as possible. We try to automate things wherever possible, but only if it's suitable - tech is brilliant, but we understand its limitations and try to work with them in every way we can.

Our mission is to build a global platform that makes it easy for everyone to share their home.

So what is your background like?

  • Experience and interest working across the full stack: from creating client side SPAs to developing and deploying Restful APIs
  • Experience with at least one modern front end framework, React, Angular or Vue.JS would be awesome
  • Experience with Python

 Extra Details:

  • Salary - Competitive monthly contract rates depending on experience
  • Stock options– so when we make it big, so do you
  • 25 paid holiday days – plus bank holidays and an extra day off on your birthday (because who wants to work on their birthday)
  • Airbnb allowance – take a well-deserved break at an Airbnb property, on us
  • Enhanced Parental Leave – Family comes first. We offer great parental leave to spend time with your new child, regardless of your gender
  • Career development – unique opportunities to learn and progress in one of the UK’s leading startups
  • Enviable company culture – we’ve put time into getting our work culture just right. Regular team social events, company-wide recognition of outstanding work, free snacks and drinks every day – we’ve got it all

Job description

We are looking for a talented and passionate Mid Level JavaScript Engineer to join our team based in London Bridge. We are about half way through a two year replatforming project converting our web and native app products into a single shared code base using PostgreSQL, Node, GraphQL, React and React Native. We are doing some pretty cutting edge stuff, so be prepared to learn and grow with us.

Who we are looking for

You have a healthy GitHub account that shows off the quality of your work; maybe you contribute to open source too.

You love engineering and constantly want to learn more. You want to reach the next level in your career and encourage your peers to grow too. You do thorough code reviews to be sure it hits very high standards. You’ll be excited about working on our ecosystem, our monorepo, how we glue things together, how we test and how we bundle or code.

You are an advocate for the product you work on and have a genuine interest in it. You understand agile methodologies, are used to pair programming and enjoy collaboration. Outside of the office you love learning new development languages and skills and work on interesting personal projects.

If that sounds good to you, come and show us what you can do.
