Graduate Developers x 2 / 3 - C#, Java, HTML5, ASP.NET, Oracle or SQL Server, Visual Studio skills - Training provided

Location - Bedfordshire Industry - Infrastructure

This is an award winning business with 20+ years stable industry growth who have a reputation for training and supporting inexperienced developers. Their business is defined by the fact that they grow their own talented development teams from recent graduates. The technical environment is very broad covering older technologies such as Cobol right the way through to newer languages such as Java and C#.

Although the company is still enhancing and maintaining their live COBOL/C# product, they are now actively working on a web based HTML5/C# product, which is a long term project.

So most of this year’s new recruits have gone straight onto the new product. This would almost certainly be the case with any new graduate recruits. A good understanding of C# and/or Java is preferable, as is the use of SQL queries.

The role will see you gain exposure to all parts of the development cycle and you will have the opportunity to take your career with the business in a number of directions. The average length of service across the business shows they have the right environment to offer both skills and career development.

All we ask is that you have a passion for programming and general development and can demonstrate through a well put together CV that you can go through a steep learning curve. Clearly we are looking for graduates who can demonstrate a background and strong hands-on knowledge of programming. We are open to all development backgrounds but C# and Java or any other OO language coupled with some good knowledge in RDBMS would be appropriate. It is important that you can demonstrate you passion for developing by giving good examples of Projects (either personal or academic) where you have taken initiative and understand the practical applications of your education.

A logic reasoning test is a fundamental part of our recruitment process so clearly those skills are going to be of paramount importance.

C#, Java, HTML5, ASP.NET, Oracle or SQL Server, Visual Studio.

Why is our Software Development team the next step for you?
At Worldpay you will develop the technologies that will change how millions of people make payments around the world. With recent changes in regulation (PSD2) we've had a real catalyst for innovation internally to challenge traditional banking as well as enhance the security of our payments platforms.

We focus intensively on robustness, security and capacity, but with large-scale test automation and a well-tuned release machine. Change is deployed with no downtime; we upgrade the system whilst it is still running at top speed. That top speed is substantial; at peak time the platform can happily process 800 transactions every second, and on its busiest days over 10 million payments are successfully completed.

How will you add value on a day-to-day basis?
Worldpay developers are extremely motivated and passionate individuals, eager to create elegant solutions to complex problems and push technology forward. You will join one of two new small cross-functional agile teams, targeting fast, feature development on our best-of-breed global payments platform navigating through the changes that come with PSD2.

Provide technical leadership, design and develop solutions as part of a cross-functional team delivering high-quality features for Java based, multi-platform, multi-discipline environments utilising Agile toolsets across the development lifecycle.

You'll take pride in writing high quality software, building, testing and maintaining robust systems and enjoy working across the entire stack, front to back.
We will want you to coach and mentor more junior engineers, act as Scrum Master for the team, and be an evangelist for best practice.

What will make you the ideal candidate?
You will have a genuine passion for software development and will have extensive commercial experience writing clean code and a knowledge of web application security and agile ways of working (Scrum, Kanban, TDD) and continuous delivery.

Multi-platform technology experience is great and we'll want you to demonstrate strong Java programming skills and experience working with Oracle, Linux & Git. We're using spring but you'll have experience with the same or similar frameworks.

You can find out more about our principles for clean code below:
https://worldpay.github.io/gateway-tribe-principles/

Why Worldpay?

Worldpay has merged with Vantiv Inc. to create a new global leader in payments. The new Worldpay will have the scale, the reach and the resources to take our success story to another level. This move allows us to expand further into high growth markets, deliver innovation at scale and above all, brings together exceptional talent and a shared passion that will help propel us forward to the next chapter of our collective story.

Our technology enables billions of payments to be made each year whether online or in person. Working with customers large and small we help them to take payments quickly, safely and reliably, allowing them to grow their businesses and making your life more convenient in the process.
