Java Developer

Working as a Java Developer with Our Client, you'll help analyze and fix in-coming issues to help build a better, more stable sport betting product. You will work as part of a team of expert sports betting software engineers and tackle the technical aspects of implementing a high-throughput, scalable and highly available service-oriented architecture. You will be passionate about technology and have a keen eye for doing root cause analysis in production code.

Minimum Requirements:

* 4/5 years of experience with Java and open source software (e.g. Spring)

* Previously worked on highly transactional systems

* Good knowledge of SQL, preferably with Oracle databases

* Experience designing and building RESTful web service APIs

* Knowledge of Asynchronous Messaging (RabbitMQ or JMS)

The topics and UX/UI you'll create will likely be about Big Data, Future State Platforms & Technologies, Blockchain, Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence concepts. As such, a passion, interest or any experience in these fields is really needed for this contract.

Key accountabilities and role outputs

●Work closely with Business Units and Product Owners as well as clients helping them realise their product vision
○Understand product specifications and user psychology
○Service design thinking ensuring it meet the user's and customer's needs for that service
●Run ideation workshops, create user journey maps and service blueprints to get a shared understanding
○Translate output into user stories forming requirements

The Office of Intercollegiate Services (OIS) is the over-arching body responsible for supporting the activities of the principal intercollegiate committees, which help the Colleges work together on matters of common interest. Within OIS, a small team of developers (CASC) support a number of College-specific IT tools.

The Colleges wish to appoint one or more highly motivated people to continue the development of specialist software packages for use in finance, recruitment and resource management within Cambridge Colleges. In addition to inter-personal and problem-solving skills, experience of ASP.NET and SQL are required, and some of the following would be advantageous: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, VB, C#, Python, PHP, Perl, HTML, CSS, Javascript, XML, Ajax, IIS, Apache.

The postholder will be an employee of the Office of Intercollegiate Services Ltd, a company limited by Guarantee. The successful candidate will need to be able to provide flexibility in terms of days and hours worked across the year.
