Job description

Position Summary:

You will be performing software test activities for a complex enterprise class security product based on micro-virtualization. The position will largely involve automated testing, scripting and some manual testing as and when required, to help assure the quality of our product as well as identify any risks in our SDLC.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent problem investigation and technical communication skills. You’ll be detailed oriented, have an enthusiasm for testing complex software and, although knowledge of security vulnerabilities would be a bonus, it isn’t essential.

Job Responsibilities:

· Plan, design and write automated tests for new and existing features and bug fixes
· Monitor and help maintain automated tests systems, cooperating with DevOps and Developers
· Write, maintain and execute manual test cases for areas where automated testing isn’t appropriate
· Debug and troubleshoot issues uncovered during testing
· Investigate defects and submit defect reports

Job Requirements:

· Prior experience of working in a professional software QA team
· Scripting/programming experience in a commercial capacity, ideally in test automation (Python, C# and Selenium skills are of particular interest)
· Knowledge of a source control system such as Git
· Understanding of Windows OS
· A knowledge of and interest in general software testing methodologies

The following skills and attributes area plus:

· Technical experience of continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
· Technical understanding of web browsers
· Understanding and experience of virtualization
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related technical subject

Company Overview:

Bromium was founded in 2010 with a mission to restore trust in computing. The company’s founders have a long and deep history of innovation in virtualization and security. Inspired by the isolation principles of traditional virtualization, the Bromium team has created a game-changing technology called micro-virtualization to protect end users against advanced malware. Every task the user performs, such as opening a document or clicking on a link, is isolated in its own micro-VM, with access to just the resources required for that task, and existing just for the life of the task. Protection is thus provided through isolation, without relying on detection, hence reliably defending the user from polymorphic and even zero-day malware.

Bromium has its corporate HQ in Cupertino,California and an R&D center in Cambridge, UK. The company is backed by top-tier investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Ignition Capital, Highland Capital Partners, Intel Capital, Meritech Capital and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for Senior Backend Developers to join our growing team. We’re passionate about using the latest technologies and want you to be too. We’re not just looking for people who’ll just sit and turn specs and requirements into code. You’ll be free to champion new ideas and tech, through collaboration and teamwork. Willingness to adapt and be flexible is key.

We want people who are comfortable working in a multi-disciplined delivery team, designing and delivering innovative solutions, deploying code in a continuous deployment environment and using cloud technologies and CI-CD pipelines.

As a Senior Backend Developer, you will:

Be seasoned in delivering well-tested code and truly care about the quality of your output

Understand and be able to work under the pressures that come with working in a fast-paced environment

Be able to guide and mentor less experienced members of the team

Be easily adaptable and open to trying new tools

What you'll be doing

Practicing object-oriented design, the SOLID principles and TDD, you will be working on backend-weighted, full lifecycle development and microservices architecture using C# and F#, ASP.NET Core 2.2, SQL, CosmosDB transitioning to DynamoDB and RESTful interfaces, with our front-end built in React.

Alongside this, you will be working with Middleware, so experience with Queue systems MSMQ or RabbitMQ, Event driven, Pub-Sub systems or some exposure to SignalR type of real time event-based system (we use Kinesis Data Streams) would be a distinct advantage.

We operate different methodologies across our teams. Whether Scrum, Kanban or Scrumban, the team decides what’s right for them to deliver high transaction, secure and stable products. Products that deliver real impact.

In terms of Cloud technologies, we use Azure and AWS and our products are built cloud-first, but if your background is Google cloud (GCP), then we’d still like to talk to you.

We use Git for version control and the full JetBrains suite for our IDEs (for Rider: think VS, but with ReSharper natively implemented).

Working at Auden

Based on the top floor of Manchester’s iconic Bonded Warehouse, Auden is one of the businesses at the forefront of the St. John's Development.

We are a committed equal opportunities employer and welcome applications irrespective of race, religion or belief, nationality, ethnic or national origin, sex, transgender status, pregnancy, disability, age, sexual orientation, marital status, civil partnership or trade union activity.
