Test Equipment Software Engineer - Linux
Information Technology | Hertfordshire

An innovative engineering company, my client are looking for a Test Equipment Software Engineer to join their team. The role will involve C++ Linux - developing software for military applications. The successful candidate will work closely with our client to support tasks across the full software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
* Requirements elicitation and analysis (text based requirements)
* Software design (Rhapsody /UML and traditional textual design)
* Code updates (C++ and Linux based scripting - Eclipse IDE)
* Component level testing (using tools such as GCov)
* Production of documentation appropriate for the lifecycle stage
* Supporting requirement / design / code reviews as required

Essential Skills and Experience:
* Full lifecycle C++ development on Linux using industry standard tools (Eclipse / GCov)
* Experience in working with software requirements (preferable with DOORS)
* UML design experience (preferably with Rhapsody - but other modelling tools are acceptable)
* Safety Critical / structured lifecycle experience
* Producing appropriate documentation

Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Experience of working in the aerospace and defence industry
* Rational Team Concert Skills
* Familiarity with MISRA Standards

QA Engineers work with Integration Engineers, Software Development Engineers, and Business Owners to understand technical implementation of features.

QA Engineers will also work with 3rd Parties, to develop test plans and suites that approximate real-world environments and regression tests and driving the approval process towards quality focused methodologies, always seeking to avoid defects or find them earlier in the process.

Required skills

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field=, or equivalent experience.

- Hands-on experience with the ownership of software project testing: defining test strategy, writing test plans, designing and executing software tests, iterative development process improvement

- Software QA automation experience working with one or more of the following technologies: PHP, CSS, HTML, Java, Java Script, Python, PERL Experience working with databases, data processing, and analytic tools

Preferred skills

- Demonstrated experience leading the creation and execution of large feature testing strategies

- Demonstrated knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build and release processes, continuous deployment, and test suite development and maintenance
